Welcome to Endurance Canada, a committee of the Sport Council of Equine Canada. Endurance Canada's mandate is to manage and coordinate all programs, services, and activities relating to the discipline of endurance riding, from the grassroots level to international FEI competitions.

An endurance ride is a test of horse and rider teams over challenging terrain of distances up to 160 kms in one day. The welfare of the horse is paramount and vet checks are used to monitor and evaluate each horse's ability to maintain the level of exercise being undertaken. Any breed of horse can be used for endurance riding, but the Arabians and part-Arabians, bred for stamina and endurance, have proven to be the most successful athletes.

Endurance horses must be fit, sound, and healthy, but also of a biddable nature. Harmony and cooperation between the horse and rider increase the level of safety and success in the sport. Pace and strategy, influenced by the level of difficulty of the terrain and climate, also play an important role.

If you love to ride and enjoy challenging yourself and your horse's ability, then this is the sport for you.
